Stop the Drama

Our emotions have an immediate impact on our daily lives. Awareness of moods and emotions, what factors contribute to our moods, how they impact our behaviors and relationships with others is critically important. Learning coping strategies of how to handle frustrating situations is the cornerstone of my work with all my clients. I believe this is an important lesson to learn early in life; therefore, I created “Stop the Drama” group. This group is designed to help young individuals gain mindfulness about their moods and help manage their emotions early in their development.

“Stop the Drama” - Will help your teenager:

  • Become aware of emotions before they spiral out of control
  • Learn how emotions can get in their way
  • Create space between emotions and reactions
  • Realize the influence that self–esteem has on their moods
  • Discover how moods influence interactions with others
  • Create skills to get through a difficult moment
  • Understand how thoughts and judgements influence moods
  • Learn coping skills and how to implement them before their mood spirals

“Stop the Drama” groups are forming now. Download a flyer here.

I designed “Stop the Drama” to give young girls the opportunity to find healthy ways of dealing with their emotions before they create unhealthy coping skills. People turn to alcohol, drugs, food, and a myriad of excessive behaviors to mask emotions or self–medicate. These behaviors are created in an effort to cope with what is going on for them emotionally. These behaviors serve to numb emotional pain. The greatest danger lies in the need to continually up the ante on these destructive patterns.  The goal is to educate our youth before they begin to turn to these unhealthy behaviors.

“I have arranged for several teenagers to work with Susan over the last year and all of them have felt extremely supported by her. Almost immediately, they all felt her warmth, intelligence and genuine care for them and for their different situations. Additionally, the parents of these teens have also reported to me that they feel like their child is truly getting the help that they have needed for some time. Susan is passionate about her work with teens and their families and her work with them is thorough, insightful and authentic. I never hesitate to refer a young teen her way.”
